EPiC
Welcome to the EPIC group website, EPIC stands for
Equality, Participation, Influencing, Change. EPIC are a group of
16 disabled young people from across the country who are supported
by the Council for Disabled Children to advise the Department for
Education on changes to the special educational needs and
disabilities (SEND) system as part of the Children and Families
Bill.
The changes to the SEND system will have a big impact on
disabled children and young people and it is really important that
their voices are listened to as part of this process.
Over 150 disabled young people applied to be members of the EPIC
group and 32 were invited to attend an open day at the Department
for Education in October. After this open day a final 16 young
people were chosen to be EPIC members. The EPIC members are all
passionate about the rights of disabled children and young people
and have a wide range of experiences and views.
EPIC have regular meetings to talk about the issues and changes
for disabled children and young people in the Children's and
Families Bill. They want to hear from other groups of disabled
children and young people about the SEND reforms too.
If you are a young disabled person who wants to have their say
on these issues, or you work with disabled children and young
people who do, then
get in touch with us to find out how you can be involved.
You can also tell us what you think by using the EPIC
Facebook page to post questions and comments.
