Edward Timpson, the Minister responsible for SEN and Disability
within the Department for Education, recently gave evidence to the
Education Select Committee on the draft provisions of the Children
and Families Bill that relate to SEN and disability. He also met
CDC and others to talk about concerns and issues.
As Strategic Partner for SEN and Disability to the Department
for Education CDC alerted him to the fact that parents were
concerned that the reforms would erode their current rights in
relation to education support. As a result of this the
Minister undertook to write to parents through CDC in order to
address these concerns.

be carried forward into the new system.
